01 — OUR MISSION
History has a stake in AI.
CHAIR is a community of historians and institution-builders advocating for a transparent and thoughtful relationship between historical knowledge and artificial intelligence. We work to build the institutions, infrastructure, and standards needed to preserve trustworthy knowledge of the past.
Democracies depend on the ability of citizens to examine evidence, contest accounts of the past, and debate their shared histories. As AI increasingly mediates access to historical knowledge, the relationship between history and AI has become one of the most consequential ethical arenas for artificial intelligence.
